Mission
The Information Technology (IT) Division supports Berkeley Lab’s scientific mission by developing and maintaining the Lab’s computing, information, and communications infrastructure. This infrastructure includes networking and telecommunications; desktop computing support; information systems for management, scientific clusters, technical information and computer security.

Adam Stone is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Information Technology (IT) Division Director at Berkeley Lab. With more than 16 years experience as the Deputy CIO, Adam leads risk-management, cyber security strategy, assurance and compliance, and overall technical strategy in cloud, HPC, collaboration technologies, and data centers. Prior to joining the Lab, Adam spent 8 years as a researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Adam holds Master’s and PhD degrees in Political Science from UC Berkeley.
