On January 1, 2023, Berkeley Lab started working under a new DOE-wide AWS contract which secured many significant improvements to our cloud program as compared to the previous contract in terms of both pricing and features, including a 19% discount off all AWS services, waiver of all data egress charges, enterprise-level support, and more. All existing Lab-linked AWS accounts have been automatically receiving the contracted discounts since January 2023.
In order to enable additional AWS features, all existing Lab-linked AWS accounts must now be migrated to a new infrastructure setup. The migration process requires specific manual actions to take place for each individual account. ScienceIT consultants will work directly with either the user who controls the root email for the account or someone who has an IAM login with Administrator access for the account.
A ScienceIT consultant will contact the account administrator to schedule a 15-minute time slot for completing the migration together over Zoom. The entire process should only take about 5-10 minutes per account from start to finish. The administrator must be logged into their AWS account to complete the migration.
For questions regarding the migration project or AWS services, please contact ScienceIT at scienceit@lbl.gov.
