BLAM! (Berkeley Lab AI Mastery) courses are back starting April 6th with new ways to use AI for productivity, research, and science. Each week will feature assigned challenges, webinars, reading materials, and videos to help people at various skill levels learn more about using modern AI tools in fun and engaging ways that can positively impact their work. Chat rooms will also be used to share accomplishments, ask questions, and keep the dialogue going.
This year, we’re offering a four-week course with three levels:
- BLAM 101 features AI for productivity, leveraging Gemini across Google Workspace and more.
- BLAM 201 is specifically created for scientists, focusing on deep research, science productivity tools, running domain-specific AI models on LRC and more.
- BLAM Coder is AI for programming, dipping our tech toes into CBorg Extension, Root Extension, and discussing cost management for AI.
BLAM series will start the week of April 6th with the same outline of readings, webinars, and challenges. So, keep an eye out for an email on April 6th with details on how to start BLAM!
Feedback from last year’s BLAM! Courses was very positive:

“Access to relevant resources, tailored and relevant content”
“The weekly comprehensive materials and the varying reading time are excellent. This allows participants to choose what works best for their daily schedule…”
Berkeley Lab folks will receive an email April 6th with information on the upcoming week’s BLAM activities, including links to webinars to add to your calendar as well as links to relevant coursework. You can also go directly to the BLAM website to check out the information as well.
