The IT Division officially launched an updated version of the Berkeley Lab Phonebook last week, bringing easier navigation, improved functionality, and a cohesive Berkeley Lab–branded look. This upgrade is part of IT’s broader strategy to review and refresh legacy Lab websites, improving both user experience and visual consistency.
The Berkeley Lab Phonebook serves as the Lab’s internal directory, providing quick access to contact information such as email addresses, office locations, and organizational affiliations for Lab employees.
The new Phonebook offers several enhancements over its predecessor including a simplified and improved search, enhanced documentation, and the integration of Google Contact links, making it easier than ever to retrieve contact information. The new phonebook also offers an improved user experience with a streamlined layout that aligns with the Berkeley Lab Design System (BLDS), ensuring a consistent look and feel that reflects Lab branding. Signature colors, fonts, and layouts now match those used across other Lab sites, making it clear that you are on an official Berkeley Lab website.
By combining modern search tools, cohesive branding, and a user-focused interface, the IT Division has transformed the Berkeley Lab Phonebook from a functional directory into a more efficient, recognizable, and valuable resource for the Berkeley Lab community.
