Embedded Support Engineers

IT Embedded Support Engineers play a vital role in ensuring the success of Berkeley Lab scientific programs. IT Embedded Support Engineers are dedicated resources who provide a set of broad technical capabilities, and provide localized expertise adapted to the Host Entity unique needs. Embedded Support Engineers work for both the Host Entity and for the IT Division, providing access to Lab-wide services and capabilities to the Host Entity, and domain knowledge and field experience to the IT Division. Embedded engineers as liaisons between IT and the host entity to get things done. If an organization is interested in an IT Embedded staff to support their needs they should contact EmbeddedIT@lbl.gov.

The Engineering Computer Aided Design (CAD) Team provides support for CAD related applications and systems for the Engineering CAD supported areas which includes, Mechanical CAD, Electrical CAD, Machine Shops, Project Controls and Windchill system.

Emery Station East (ESE) IT team provides support to both the 4th and 3rd floor. Responsible for computing, data management, and desktop support.
Potter IT provides support for all of BSBK as well as all PI’s at Potter Street. Additional support provided to Biosciences Division admins across the lab (MBIB, EGSB, BSE)
The Molecular Foundry is a Department of Energy-funded nanoscience research facility that provides users from around the world with access to cutting-edge expertise and instrumentation in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The IT team at the Molecular Foundry provides consultation and support in every aspect to keep systems functioning smoothly.

The IT Embedded Team member provide Jira Systems Administration for ALS-U, JGI and JBEI. Both onsite and cloud Jira.

Berkeley Lab’s Earth & Environmental Sciences Area is a premier Earth sciences research organization tackling some of the most pressing environmental and energy challenges in order to enable sustainable stewardship and judicious use of the Earth’s resources. The IT Team at EESA provides consultation and support to keep systems operating at their optimum condition enabling the scientific teams to concentrate on their research.
