Accounts on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are available to all lab staff. Accounts on either service can be setup and configured the same day.
The process to get an account on a cloud service is as follows:
- Have ready a valid PID that will be used for recharges for your cloud usage
- Have monthly spending or total project amount that you can use to create a budget in order to receive alerts and track usage.
- Request an account by emailing scienceit@lbl.gov.
If the user doesn’t have an existing prior cloud account, then Science IT Consultants will schedule a 30 minute session to discuss:
- Costs and discounts available to LBL users
- Billing recharge process
- Setting up a budget
- Security of the cloud account
After that, Science IT will create an account for your usage.
