The Berkeley Lab Photo Archive provides public access to important scientific history and visual assets at photos.lbl.gov. Previously, in order to download photos, users were required to create a new account through the Archive, separate from the Berkeley Lab Identity. This process was confusing and presented a security risk through additional account management from both system and end users.
Thor worked with Derrick Johnson, Computer Systems Engineer, Collaborations/IT, to integrate Secure Sign-On (SSO) with the Photo Archive platform. Starting on April 21, 2022, Berkeley Lab users will be able to login to the Photo Archive using their primary Berkeley Lab Identity username and password. This change provides a more unified experience for users to explore the free digital assets available to them and increases overall accessibility and security across the organization.
