Cyber Security
Visit cyber.lbl.gov for information on computer security training requirements and cyber security policies.
Education & Outreach
The IT Division administers Education & Outreach programs to the local Bay Area community and is committed to Berkeley Lab stewardship values.
Google Workspace
IT offers Google Workspace applications training to groups of any size, customized for various technical levels and interests (more administrative, more scientific collaboration oriented, etc). Contact help@lbl.gov for more information.
Records Management
The Records Management Office (RMO) is tasked with providing records management training to the Laboratory population about their records responsibilities. Per Archives and Records Management Policy, RMO offers annual training on records scheduling and disposition, vital records, and archiving research and development records.
LinkedIn Learning
Looking for help with Google Suite, Excel or Word? The Lab offers unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning courses for free. Login with your Berkeley Lab Identity at go.lbl.gov/linkedinlearning.
User Groups
Consider joining an IT User Group to get the most out of your computing experiences, connect with fellow employees, and get peer to peer advice and assistance.
Zoom Training
Zoom experts host free and interactive live training webinars daily. These virtual training sessions are designed for beginner and intermediate users and help staff learn Zoom basics in less than an hour. Learn more about Zoom Training.
Custom Training
IT can provide customized seminars, training sessions, or awareness activities for the organizational needs of virtually any sized group at LBL. Send details to help@lbl.gov to initiate a consultation.
IT may collaborate with external vendors to help Berkeley Lab staff further their knowledge. Training partners include: Academy X, Alameda County Training & Education Center, Learnit, Versitas.
ScienceIT Training
Data Science Workshops (D-Lab)
IT provides technical training to thousands of Lab staff and affiliates. In collaboration with UC Berkeley’s D-Lab, the ScienceIT and IT User Support groups lead a joint effort to offer cross-disciplinary training focused on data science and advanced computing skills such as Python, R, Machine Learning, and more. Berkeley Lab staff should contact ittraining@lbl.gov for feedback about D-Lab training.
IT Support for Science
IT’s flagship presentation is a 45-minute overview of the service portfolio designed for research staff which includes interactive demos of the latest features in ScienceIT collaboration tools.
ScienceIT Office Hours
ScienceIT holds weekly office hours for drop-in consulting every Wednesday from 10:30am – Noon. Teleoffice hour consultations are virtual and held online unless otherwise noted.

Berkeley Lab Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Eligible Career employees can receive tuition assistance for courses at an accredited college/university or professional institution. Learn more about the Lab’s Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) at tap.lb.gov.
UC Learning Center
The University of California offers training and development courses through the UC Learning Center.
