Starting on March 31, 2024, LastPass will no longer support their legacy application for Mac desktops. Staff who are still using an outdated version of the LastPass Mac desktop app may begin to see in-app alerts regarding the discontinuation of support in the coming weeks ahead. Be sure to take action well before the deadline to avoid disruptions to service.
The new Mac desktop app is more secure and user-friendly, with automatic updates as new versions are released. For an even more seamless password management experience, Berkeley Lab IT recommends switching to the LastPass browser extension which includes easy access to your vault and automatic log in to sites. Check out the IT FAQ LastPass page for more information.
Impacted Users
- Users who downloaded the LastPass Mac application directly from lastpass.com
- Users who downloaded the LastPass Mac application prior to June 2023
Note: The LastPass browser extension is not affected. Support will only be discontinued for the legacy Mac desktop application.
